One day Special Camp

 

The NSS Unit of SMS College, Brahmavar organized a one-day special camp at Neelavara Mahishamardhini Temple to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.A total of 70 NSS volunteers actively participated in the camp. As part of the initiative, activities such as temple premises cleaning, environmental conservation, community service tasks, and awareness programmes were carried out. The temple authorities extended full support, ensuring the smooth execution of all activities.

The camp was conducted under the guidance of Programme Officers Mr. Prasanna Shetty and Mr. Prakash, maintaining discipline and coordination throughout the day. Co-programme officers Dr. Manjunath Udupa and Ms. Ranjini were also present and offered their support.The camp concluded successfully, strengthening the spirit of social service among the students and providing an opportunity to remember and honour the ideals and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

ಏಡ್ಸ್ ಕುರಿತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ

 

ಎಸ್. ಎಮ್. ಎಸ್. ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸೇವಾ ಯೋಜನೆ (NSS), ಯುವ ರೆಡ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ (YRC) ಹಾಗೂ ರೆಡ್ ರಿಬ್ಬನ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ (RRC) ಅವರ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಏಡ್ಸ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ HIV/ಏಡ್ಸ್ ಕುರಿತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು, ತಪ್ಪು ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವುದಾಗಿತ್ತು.ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾoಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ರಾಬರ್ಟ್ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಇವರು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಏಡ್ಸ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮನವರಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಾಜರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಅಲಂದೂರು ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್, ಹಿರಿಯ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕ, ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ,ಇವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ HIV ಹರಡುವ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳು, ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟುವ ವಿಧಾನಗಳು, ಶೀಘ್ರ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಲಹೆ ಪಡೆಯುವ ಮಹತ್ವ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿವರವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರ ಸಂವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸವು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಿತು.ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು NSS ಯೋಜನಾಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಅವರು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಸಂಯೋಜಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ದಿವ್ಯಾ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ಸುಗಮವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು.ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ ಅವರು ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಪೂರ್ವಕ ವಂದನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳು, ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

The Humanities Association of Saint Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, successfully organised “Artistia 2K25 – A Canvas of Culture and Creativity” for the B.A. students, bringing together a vibrant blend of talent, innovation, and artistic expression. The event, held under the IQAC initiative, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all semesters.

A variety of creative and intellectually stimulating competitions were conducted, including Craft Making, Model Making, Rangoli, Videography, Memory Test, Dance, and Fun Games. Each event showcased the imagination and skills of the participants, turning the campus into a lively hub of colours, ideas, and youthful energy.The programme featured two distinguished Chief Guests on the same day.

Mr. Daniel Monteiro, Retired Office Superintendent of S.M.S. College and Guinness World Record holder for the largest collection of bird-themed stamps, inaugurated the morning session and motivated students with his inspiring achievements . Dr.Jayaram shettigar a sepcial invitee , active member of alumini association and office superintendent Mrs.Voilentine Lewis and staff and students were present.The valedictory programme in the afternoon was graced by Mr. James Oliver, Retired Physical Education Director, Pompei College, Aikala, and alumnus of SMS College, who congratulated the students and encouraged them to pursue excellence in all fields.

Principal Dr. Robert Rodrigues J., IQAC Coordinator Lt. Ashwin Shetty A., and Humanities Association Convenor Mrs. Helmina Mary Mamatha appreciated the efforts of the organising team and commended the active participation of the students.The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners, over all championship trophy to the best performing class (I BA I Batch) ,which was sponsored by family of late John Richard Roche ,marking a memorable celebration of creativity and cultural spirit on campus.

Under the guidance of IQAC, the Department of Commerce and the Commerce Association hosted the successful event “Advaya 2.0”, a new product launch competition. The initiative, “From Classroom to Marketplace,” provided B.Com students with an opportunity to present their product ideas creatively.


Mr. Shrikanth A. Poojary, Lecturer in Commerce, GFGC Manki, Honnavar, and Mr. Prashanth Shetty, Lecturer in Ancient History and Archaeology, SMS College Brahmavar, served as the judges for the competition, while Nikhitha of III B.Com A and Shreya of II B.Com B efficiently compered the event.

Principal Dr. Robert Rodrigues J appreciated the students’ efforts, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering creativity and growth. HOD Mrs.Tweeny Maria Rodrigues, Convener Mr. Vighnesh Padiyar, and the Commerce faculty extended their full support, with enthusiastic participation from other departments as well.

S.M.S. College Organises Mehendi and Hairstyling Competition


Brahmavar, November 12, 2025:

S.M.S. College, Brahmavar, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Women’s Forum, organised a Mehendi and Hairstyling Competition for the girl students on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the college mini auditorium.

The programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. Robert Rodrigues J., who addressed the participants and appreciated the initiative taken to encourage students’ creativity and talent.The competition was judged by well-known beauticians from Brahmavar, Mrs. Preethi Poojary and Mrs. Jyothi Poojary, who evaluated the participants’ work and announced the results.

Women’s Forum Staff Coordinator Dr. Vidyalatha and Secretary Amrutha Poojary were present during the event. More than a hundred students enthusiastically took part, making the programme a grand success.
