Alumni Summer Get-Together Brings Back Cherished Memories at SMS College

Brahmavar, May 31: St. Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, buzzed with joy and nostalgia as it hosted the Alumni Summer Get-Together 2025 on its campus from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Under the theme "Where Memories Meet Again," the event witnessed a warm reunion of former students who reconnected with old friends, teachers, and cherished college memories.



The evening was filled with fun, laughter, and celebration. A range of exciting fun games and interactive activities brought a wave of enthusiasm and joy among the participants. Alumni from various batches engaged wholeheartedly, making it a vibrant and memorable gathering.

The college campus echoed with stories, laughter, and heartfelt moments, as the alumni reminisced their student days. The event successfully created a beautiful space for bonding, shared memories, and new beginnings.

Brahmavar, June 1: The Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University, in association with St. Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, successfully organized the Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate Lawn Tennis Tournament 2024–25 for men and women on May 31, 2025, at the Ajjarkadu Indoor Stadium, Udupi.

The valedictory function of the prestigious tournament was presided over by Dr. Robert Rodrigues J., Principal of SMS College, Brahmavar.  Esteemed Guests of Honor included Mr. Chandrashekhar Hegde, Retired Physical Education Director of SMS College, Brahmavar, Mr. Rama Bhat, Member of the SMS Tennis Club, and Dr. Ramachandra Patkar, Observer from Mangalore University,Mr. Venkatesh Bhat, Physical Education Director.

Men’s Section:

  • First Place: SDM College, Ujire
  • Second Place: Sacred Heart College, Madantyar
  • Third Place: GFGC, Tenkanidiyur
  • Fourth Place: Mangalore University Campus

Women’s Section:

  • First Place: St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru
  • Second Place: Dr. GSGFGWC, Ajjarkadu
  • Third Place: GFGC, Tenkanidiyur
  • Fourth Place: SMS College, Brahmavar

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from several affiliated colleges under Mangalore University, and the competitions reflected remarkable talent, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit among the student-athletes. The joint effort of the Department of Physical Education and SMS College Brahmavar received wide appreciation for the flawless execution and vibrant conduct of the tournament.

The organizing committee extended special thanks to  Dr. Gerald S. D’Souza, Director of Physical Education, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri, for their support in making the event a grand success.

SMS College, Brahmavar, in association with Omnion Premedia Pvt Ltd, successfully conducted a campus placement drive on May 15, 2025, exclusively for final-year students.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 20 students, who went through a direct face to face interview.10 students were selected to join, marking a significant milestone in their academic and professional journey.

The management, faculty, and placement cell of SMS College extended their heartfelt congratulations to the selected students for their commendable performance and dedication.

The college remains committed to empowering students through such meaningful industry collaborations and continues to work towards enhancing career opportunities for its students.

The Department of Commerce, under the Commerce Association, successfully organized Commerce Fest on 17th March 2025 and Commerce Day on 19th March 2025. The events were held to encourage academic excellence, practical exposure, and student engagement in the field of commerce.

The Commerce Fest featured a wide range of competitions and interactive sessions aimed at enhancing students' skills and creativity. Activities such as Business Quiz, Collage Competition, model making , ice breaker and glimpses witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all B.com classes .

Commerce Day, celebrated on 19th March, was filled with games and entertainment programs that brought energy and joy to the campus. Students participated enthusiastically in various recreational activities, making the day both memorable and fun-filled.

The two-day celebration not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talents but also fostered teamwork, leadership, and innovation.


The Department of Commerce extends sincere appreciation to all students, Principal ,faculty members, for their support and contribution in making these events successful.

Brahmavar: Laxmi Birappa, a final year B.A. student of SMS College, Brahmavar, made the institution proud by representing the Mangalore Zone as the captain in the KSCA Inter-Moffusil Women's Cricket Tournament (Below 25 Years Category) held at Shivamogga. This marks the first time a student from the college has taken up a leadership role at this prestigious level. Her selection and performance highlight the growing talent and potential among young women cricketers in the region.
