 `Aagaman’ – Orientation Programme for First Year B.Com, B.A & B.C.A Students*

S.M.S College, Brahmavar, organized orientation programme, ‘Aagaman’, on July 28, 2025, to welcome the first-year students of B.Com, B.A, and B.C.A courses. The programme aimed to guide the freshers into their new academic journey and introduce them to the values and culture of the institution.

The highlight of the event was a special talk by Prof. Sakharama Somayaji, Former Professor at NTPC School of Business, Delhi, and President of the Alumni Association of S.M.S College. He delivered an insightful session on the topic "Values in Life", underscoring the significance of discipline, compassion, and integrity in shaping a meaningful life and successful career.

The Principal, Dr. Robert Rodriguez, addressed the gathering with a motivational message that emphasized academic excellence, ethical responsibility, and personal growth. His address inspired students to strive for both knowledge and character.




Mrs. Savitha S. Nayak, Executive Member of the Alumni Association, graced the occasion with her presence and motivated the students with her encouraging words, sharing her own journey and the role the college played in her professional development.The event began with a warm welcome by Vice Principal, Mr. Prasanna Shetty.The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mrs. Vanitha Shetty, Lecturer in Commerce, who appreciated the contributions of all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for making the event a grand success.


The orientation programme left a lasting impression on the new batch, marking a positive and inspiring start to their academic life at S.M.S College.

In connection with the nationwide initiative "Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan", an Oath-Taking Programme was held today at 11:30 AM in front of the Principal’s Chamber. The event aimed to create awareness among students and staff about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage a commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.

The programme witnessed the active participation of teaching and non-teaching staff, along with enthusiastic involvement from students across various streams. During the event, all present solemnly took the anti-drug pledge, reaffirming their resolve to stay away from intoxicating substances and to spread awareness in the society.

The initiative reflects the college’s continued commitment to social responsibility and youth empowerment through value-based education.

Competitive Exam Awareness Programme Held at SMS College, Brahmavara

Brahmavara: SMS College, Brahmavara, a prestigious institution managed by the OSC Educational Society and accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC, organized a Competitive Exam Awareness Programme on June 24th. The event aimed to enlighten students about various Central and State Government job opportunities and the preparation strategies required for competitive examinations.

The programme was organized in association with Naren Academy, Brahmavara, and Rotary Royals, Brahmavara, and served as a platform to guide students on the latest employment trends and examination patterns in the public sector.

Eminent dignitaries graced the event, including Mr. Robert Rodriguez, Principal of SMS College; Mr. Chandrakanth from Naren Academy; Mr. Raghavendra Samaga, Assistant Governor, Zone 3; Mr. Trivikram Adiga, Secretary, Rotary Royals Brahmavara; and Mr. Sakaram Somayaji, President of the Old Students' Association. The NCC unit of St. Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, commemorated International Yoga Day with a serene early morning yoga session at Sastana Kodi Beach. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets who demonstrated various yoga asanas, promoting physical and mental well-being.


The programme was held in the dignified presence of the Principal, Dr. Robert Rodrigues J, who emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for holistic development. Lt. Brahmavar, June 14: The NCC Unit of SMS College, Brahmavar, actively participated in a blood donation camp organised by the 21 KAR BN NCC Udupi. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the cadets, who came forward to contribute to this humanitarian cause.

The initiative aimed to promote the spirit of service among youth and address the ongoing need for blood in hospitals and medical emergencies. A significant number of units across Udupi district joined the campaign, with SMS College cadets playing a commendable role through their selfless act.
