 Alumni Association Annual General Meeting Held with Great Success


The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Alumni Association was held with much enthusiasm and active participation from members. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries and former students who came together to celebrate memories and strengthen bonds.

The formal program commenced with a prayer led by Ms. Ranjini, setting a solemn and grateful tone for the gathering. Mr. Sachin Poojary, Secretary of the Association, extended a warm welcome to the alumni, staff, and dignitaries present.

The Annual Report was read out by the Staff Coordinator, Mrs. Tweeny Maria Rodrigues, highlighting the activities, achievements, and milestones of the past year. The Treasurer, Mr. Joseph Suaris, then presented the financial accounts, giving a clear picture of the association’s financial standing.

The gathering was further addressed by Dr. Robert Rodrigues, Principal, who appreciated the active involvement of the alumni in contributing to the growth of the institution. The Presidential Remarks were delivered by Prof. Sakarama Soumyaji, President of the Association, who emphasized the importance of alumni unity and their role in supporting future endeavors.

The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Albert Rony D’Silva, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the AGM.

The event was elegantly compered by Mr. Bharathraj and Ms. Supreetha, who kept the proceedings lively and well-coordinated.

 Vice President Mrs. Sujatha Andrade, Joint secretary Mrs. Gayathri and Legal Advisor Mr. Steevan Victor Lewis were present on the dais whose presence added dignity to the occasion.


The AGM was a memorable and fruitful gathering, strengthening the bond between the alumni and their alma mater, and paving the way for more collaborative efforts in the future.

Brahmavar: The Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate Cross Country Championship (Men & Women) 2025 was successfully organized ಬೈ the Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University, and St. Mary’s Syrian College (SMS), Brahmavar. The valedictory function was held on September 16 at 9:00 AM in the main auditorium of SMS College with great grandeur.

The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. M.C. Mathai, President, OSCES (R), Brahmavar. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests including Mr. Biju Nair, Director, Goa Fresh Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Birthi Rajesh Shetty, President, Brahmavar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha; Mr. L.N. Hariprasad Rai, President, Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association; Mr. Alvares D’Silva, Secretary, College Section; Mr. Alan Rohan Vaz, General Secretary, OSCES (R), Brahmavar; Mr. M. Chandrashekar Hegde, Retired P.Ed., SMS College, Brahmavar; Mr. Satish Shetty, President, Rotary Brahmavar; Mr. Prashanth Kadur, Janani Enterprises, Brahmavar; Mr. Jayanth Shetty, Manager, SBI Brahmavar; Dr. Haridas Kuloor, Observer, Mangalore University; Mr. Sachin Poojary, Secretary, Old Students’ Association; Dr. Gerald S. D’Souza, Director of Physical Education, Mangalore University; Dr. Robert Rodrigues J., Principal, SMS College, Brahmavar; Mr. Sheshappa Gowda, President, Physical Education Teachers’ Association; and Mr. Venkatesh Bhat, Director of Physical Education, SMS College, along with Dr. Ramachandra Patkar, physical education teachers and lecturers from various colleges.

In the Women’s category, Alva’s College, Moodbidri, secured the overall First Place, followed by SDM College in second, KSS Subramanya in third, and GFGC Ajjarkad in fourth position.

In the Men’s category, Alva’s College, Moodbidri, once again claimed the First Place, while SDM College took second, KSS Subramanya secured third, and SBC Karkala finished fourth.

 Inauguration of Fashion Designing Course and MoU Signing

The Fashion Designing Course was formally inaugurated at S.M.S College, Brahmavar on 28th August 2025. The programme was presided over by Rev. F. M. C. Mathai, Correspondent of the College.

The programme began with a prayer by Ms. Ranjani from the Department of English, which created a serene and graceful atmosphere. This was followed by a welcome and introductory address by Dr. Vidyalatha, Co-ordinator of the Fashion Designing Course, who highlighted the objectives of introducing this new programme and its relevance in today’s creative industry.

The event was graced by Dr. Robert Rodriguez, Principal of the College, who, in his address, emphasized the importance of skill-based education.

 Mr. Vinod Kumar, Director of Mind Creative School, Udupi, spoke on the growing scope of fashion designing as a career and motivated students to nurture creativity. Ms. Ashwini Prabhu, Teaching Faculty for Fashion Designing, presented an overview of the course structure.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Rev. F. M. C. Mathai, who appreciated the initiative of launching the Fashion Designing Course at the college and assured full support for its success.

On this occasion, an MoU was signed between S.M.S College, Brahmavar, and Mind Creative School, Udupi, to strengthen academic collaboration. The agreement includes provisions for student exchange programmes, collaborative workshops, guest lectures, industrial visits, internships, and joint research activities, thereby enhancing creative and professional opportunities for students.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Lt. Ashwin Shetty, IQAC Co-ordinator, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and all contributors to the event.

The programme was compered by Ms. Divyajothi, II B.Com ‘B’. The event concluded on a positive note, marking not only the beginning of the Fashion Designing Course but also the start of a promising academic collaboration.

Rovers Rangers Rendered Service at Free Eye Check-up Camp

A Free Eye Check-up Camp was organized by the Brahmavara Foundation, Lions & Leo Club (Brahmavara–Barkur), and Brahmavara Abhivruddhi Samiti in association with Netrajyothi Charitable Trust, Udupi, and Prasad Netralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital, Udupi on 24th August 2025 at SMS Community Center, Brahmavara.


The camp aimed to provide free eye check-ups to the public and witnessed the active participation of the Rovers and Rangers of St. Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar. They rendered valuable service by assisting in registration, guiding patients, and ensuring smooth coordination throughout the program. Their enthusiastic involvement contributed greatly to the success of the camp, reflecting their commitment to community service and social responsibility.

Brahmavar, August 24: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Students’ Welfare Council (SWC) of SMS College, Brahmavar jointly organized Freshers’ Day – ARAMBHAM 2025 in the college main auditorium. The event warmly welcomed all the first-year students of BA, B.Com, and BCA courses.

Old student Mr. Abhijith Padeshwar graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Principal Dr. Robert Rodriguez J. IQAC Coordinator Mr. Ashwin Shetty, SWC Coordinators Mr. Prashanth Shetty and Ms. Supreetha,vice-principal mr.Prasanna shetty along with teaching and non-teaching staff members, were present on the occasion.


The celebration featured a variety of fun games, cultural performances, and dance, creating an enthusiastic and memorable start for the newcomers.
