The Dr. B. Vasantha Shetty Memorial Archaeological Exhibition was organised by IQAC, Department of History, Ancient History and Archaeology on February 18, 2025. The event was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Robert Rodrigues in the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Dinakar Shetty, a retired teacher and Executive Committee Member of the College Alumni Association.



The exhibition honored Dr. B. Vasantha Shetty, an eminent historian and archaeologist of Tulunadu and a former principal of SMS College, Brahmavar. The event witnessed active participation from students, teaching, and non-teaching staff.

 "Spandana"– 42nd Issue of College Magazine Released

The 42nd issue of the college magazine "Spandana" was released by the Principal, Dr. Robert Rodrigues on Friday, 21st February 2025 at the college Mini Auditorium . The principal underscored the crucial role of writing in academic and personal growth, encouraging students to develop a habit of creative and intellectual expression by actively contributing articles to the magazine. He highlighted how such platforms serve as a stepping stone for young minds to showcase their literary talents and critical thinking skills.

The event was hosted by Fathima from III BA as the Master of Ceremony. Mrs. Seema Lewis from the Department of English welcomed the gathering, while the vote of thanks was proposed by the Magazine Committee Convenor, Mrs. Vanita Shetty from the Department of Commerce. The program was presided over by Vice Principal Mr. Prasanna Shetty and IQAC Coordinator Lt. Ashwin Shetty.The event was attended by all members of the magazine committee, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff, who witnessed the proceedings.

Brahmavar, February 15, 2025 – The Department of Economics at Saint Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, successfully organized a thought-provoking event, “Budget 2025: A Student Perspective.” The program aimed to provide students with an opportunity to analyse and present their views on the Union Budget 2025.

Inauguration and Opening Ceremony

The event commenced with a symbolic inauguration, where a coin was dropped into a piggy bank, signifying the importance of savings and financial planning. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Nikitha II Bcom A, setting the tone for an engaging and insightful session.Mr. Bharath Raj S Nejar, Head of the Department of Economics, delivered the introductory remarks, emphasizing the significance of budget literacy among students.

Student Budget Analysis Presentations


The highlight of the event was the Student Budget Analysis Presentations, where participants presented their in-depth evaluations of Budget 2025. Each analysis focused on different aspects such as taxation, education funding, employment policies, and economic growth. The presentations were carefully evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges:

  • Mrs. Mamatha Mary Ammana, HOD of Political Science
  • Mr. Prashanth Devadiga, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce
  • Mrs. Malika Upadhya, Assistant Professor Department of Commerce

The judges provided valuable observations and feedback, appreciating the students’ research, analytical skills, and presentation abilities.

Certificate Distribution and Awards

To recognize the efforts of the participants, certificates were distributed to all presenters. The Best Budget Analysis Presentation Award was conferred upon the most outstanding analysis, acknowledging the student’s exceptional insights and presentation skills. Adithya Shetty of II BCom A and Abhijna of I BA I batch won the Best Presentation Award.

Following the presentations, the Principal, Dr. Robert Rodrigues J, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of financial awareness and critical thinking among students. The IQAC team, which played a key role in organizing the event, was acknowledged for its support.

Brahmavar, February 6, 2025 – The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Saint Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for Non-Teaching Staff on the topic “Modern Office Practices for Effective Administration” on February 6, 2025.

The resource person for the session was Mr. Gopal Naik, Office Superintendent of Bhandarkars College, Kundapura. The session aimed at enhancing the administrative efficiency of non-teaching staff by equipping them with modern office management skills.

The event was held at the college's Mini Auditorium at 3:00 PM and saw active participation from the non-teaching staff. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, emphasising the importance of continuous learning for administrative excellence.The event was graced by Principal Dr. Robert Rodrigues and Office Superintendent    Mrs. Violetine Lewis, who emphasised the importance of professional development for non-teaching staff.

The initiative aimed to enhance the skills of administrative personnel, ensuring smooth and effective office operations.
