Harmony Club of Saint Mary's Syrian College Organizes Drawing Competition to Celebrate International Day of Peace

September 18, 2024 – The Harmony Club of Saint Mary's Syrian College, organised a Drawing Competition today to commemorate the International Day of Peace. The event took place in the Main Auditorium from 1:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., attracting student participants eager to express their artistic talents in the spirit of peace.

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Prathima S and  Mrs.Chitra Shetty  Department of Commerce. Students were given the opportunity to creatively depict themes related to peace and harmony, reinforcing the message of unity and tranquility in society.

 Two-Day Soft Skills Training Program  for Final Year Students 

Sep.tember 14, 2024:

 A two-day soft skills training program was successfully conducted for the final year students of SMS College, Brahmavar, on the 13th and 14th of September. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Ramakrishna Hegde Skill Development Centre (RHSDC), a unit of Konkan Railway under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.



The training sessions were held at the Seminar Hall of the RHSDC Centre, Udupi. The program aimed at enhancing the employability skills of students by focusing on various aspects of soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. 


Speaking on the occasion, the coordinators highlighted the importance of soft skills in today’s competitive job market and encouraged students to make the most of the learning opportunities provided through the program.


Students expressed their gratitude for the insightful sessions and praised the collaborative effort of SMS College and RHSDC for organizing such a beneficial program.

Saint Mary's Syrian College, Brahmavar, organized an insightful expert talk on the topic of "Indian Democracy" under the initiative of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Political Science. Dr. Ashalatha, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, was the distinguished guest speaker at the event.



Dr. Ashalatha’s in-depth insights on the democratic framework of India left a profound impression on both students and faculty members.  

Principal Dr. Robert Rodrigues, Mrs. Mamatha Mary Ammana, Head of the Department of Political Science, IQAC Coordinator Mr. Ashwin Shetty, Mr. Laxminarayan nayk , assistant professor  Department of Political Science and Vice Principal Mr. Prasanna Shetty graced the occasion, sharing the stage with the guest speaker. 

Sirsti from I BCA served as the Master of Ceremony, while Pawan from II B.A. welcomed gathering ,Mehenaz from I BCA introduced the guest, and Deeksha from I BCA delivered the vote of thanks. 

The event was a testament to the college’s commitment to fostering academic growth and promoting active discussions on relevant political topics, leaving the audience enriched with valuable knowledge.

Inauguration of Students' Welfare Council  and  Celebration of Teachers' Day programme

Brahmavar, 5 September 2024: 

Saint Mary's Syrian College, Brahmavar, marked an eventful day as it organized the inauguration of the Students' Welfare Council for the academic year 2024-25 in conjunction with Teachers' Day celebrations. The program, held at the Main Auditorium of the college, began at 11:00 a.m. with esteemed guests, faculty, and students in attendance.

The event was presided over by Rev. Fr. M.C. Mathai, President of OSC Educational Society (R), Brahmavar. The inauguration was graced by the presence of Prof. Sakharam Somayaji, a retired professor from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, and the President of the Alumni Association (R) SMS College, who served as the chief guest and inaugurated the Students' Welfare Council and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Alvaris D'Silva, Secretary of the College Section at OSC Educational Society (R), Brahmavar.


Following the formal inauguration of the Students' Welfare Council, the Teachers' Day celebration took center stage. The college paid tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and renowned philosopher, whose birthday is commemorated as Teachers' Day in India. A floral tribute was offered to Dr. Radhakrishnan's portrait as a gesture of respect and admiration for his contributions to education.


The program also featured by newly appointed members of the Students' Welfare Council, led by Mr. Deekshith Y S, President of the Council. Other key members include Ms. Aishwaryalakshmi, Secretary, Mr. Vignesh Pai, Joint Secretary, Mr. Chandra, Vice President, and Ms. Chaithra, Vice President. They expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming academic year and outlined their vision for student welfare initiatives.


The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a warm reception for the faculty members, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping the future of students. The management,  alumni, staff, and students of the college actively participated in making the event a grand success.

ದಿನಾಂಕ 3/9/2024 ರಂದು ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸಂಘದ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಮಿನಿ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ವರ್ಷದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ರಾಬರ್ಟ್ ರೋಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಅವರು ವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಮಹಿಳಾ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಸಂಯೋಜಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ವಿದ್ಯಾಲತಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. 


 ಮಹಿಳಾ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಭದ್ರತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಕುರಿತು ಹಲವಾರು ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರಿಗೆ ನೀಡಲಾಯ್ತು .ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರು ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ  ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು .

 ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ದಿನದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಎಸ್ ಎಂ ಎಸ್  ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರದಲ್ಲಿ ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರ ಹಾಗೂ   ವನಮಹೋತ್ಸವ   ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ


 ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ, 29 ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 2024: ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರದ ಎಸ್ ಎಂ ಎಸ್  ಕಾಲೇಜು ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಘ  ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ  ಆಡಿಯೋರಿಯಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಹತ್  ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು  ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿತು.

ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ IQAC , ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಕ್ಷೇಮಪಾಲನ ಸಂಘ  , ದೈಹಿಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ವಿಭಾಗ , NCC ,NSS ,Rovers rangers ,ಯೂಥ್ ರೇಡ್ ಕ್ರಾಸ್   , SMS ಕಾಲೇಜು ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಸಂಘ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಕ್ಷಕ  ಸಂಘ  ಹಲವಾರು ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು. 




ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಯಲಯ ,ಅಂತರ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ,ರಾಜ್ಯ ,ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ,ಅಂತರ್ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧನೆ ಗೈದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ  ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಸಾಧಕರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು  .ರಕ್ತ ದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರದಲ್ಲಿ  ಒಟ್ಟು 100 ಯುನಿಟ್ ರಕ್ತ  ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾಯಿತು .

The BCA Department of Saint Mary's Syrian College, Brahmavar, organized an informative talk on "Internship Opportunities for BCA Students" on 29/08/2024 in the college mini auditorium. Dr. Rajalaxmi Anandan, Centre Director at MSDC Manipal, served as the resource person, sharing valuable insights on various internship opportunities available to BCA students.Mr.Prakash Nayak, the Head of the Department of BCA, along with other faculty members and students were present in the programme.




The talk aimed to help students explore potential career pathways and equip them with the necessary information to pursue internships in the IT field. The event was well-received and provided a platform for students to understand the importance of gaining practical experience during their academic journey.

The HRD cell of Saint Mary's  Syrian College Brahamavar hosted a awareness programme on Financial Eco System and RBI90 Quiz for Students on August 27-08-2024. 


The event featured Mrs. Meera G FLC counselor udupi and Mrs. Ashalatha FLC counselor Kundhapura imparting valuable insight into RBI90 quiz preparation strategies.  

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Robert Rodrigues Principal of the College, Mrs. Asha T K and Mr. Keerthi Shettigar HRD cell coordinators of the College, teaching and non teaching staff and Students were present on the occasion.

SMS College Alumni Association : Annual General Body Meeting

The Alumni Association of St. Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, organised its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) today at the college's Mini Auditorium. The event saw an enthusiastic gathering of alumni from various batches, all united in the spirit of reconnecting, rejuvenating, and rebuilding the legacy of their alma mater.

The meeting commenced at 10:00 a.m. with a warm welcome and introductory remarks by the Principal, Dr. Robert Rodrigues. He underscored the impact alumni can have on the continued success of the institution. The agenda included the presentation of the Annual Audited Statement of Accounts for the financial year 2023-24 by the Treasurer, Mr. Albert Roney D'Silva.

One of the key moments of the AGM was the election of new office bearers for the term 2024-2025. The newly elected office bearers include:

- President: Dr. Sakaram Somayaji

- Vice Presidents: Mr. Udayakumar Shetty & Mrs. Sujatha Andrade

- Secretary: Mr. Sachin Poojary

- Joint Secretaries: Mrs. Gayathri & Mr. Naveen Banz

- Treasurer: Mr. Joseph Suaris

The association also appointed CA Padmanabhan Kanchan as the auditor for the financial year 2024-25, reinforcing their commitment to transparency and financial accountability. An alumni get-together followed, providing attendees with the opportunity to reconnect, network, and share their experiences.Alumni Coordinator Mrs. Tweeny Maria Rodrigues emphasized the importance of alumni unity in shaping the future of the college.

The AGM concluded with brief speeches from the newly elected President, Dr. Sakaram Somayaji, who highlighted the crucial role alumni play in supporting the institution’s growth and sustaining its legacy. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Bharath Raj S. Nejar, expressing gratitude to all participants and organisers. The master of ceremonies for the program were Mr. Prashanth Shetty and Mr. Bharath Raj S. Nejar, who ensured the smooth flow of the event.

Brahmavar, August 22, 2024: Saint Mary's Syrian College, Brahmavar, organized a Faculty Development Programme on Investor Awareness. The event was held under the initiative of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

The programme, organized in association with FinEdu Connect, aimed to equip the faculty with essential knowledge about investments and financial risk management. Kalthur Mohan Rao, a retired General Manager of the Risk Management Department, was the resource person for the event. With his vast experience in the field, he provided valuable insights into the importance of being aware of investment opportunities and strategies.

The programme began at 3:30 PM at the college's Mini-Auditorium and was well-attended by the faculty. The initiative reflects the college's commitment to fostering financial literacy and professional development among its educators.

The event concluded on a positive note, with attendees expressing their appreciation for the knowledge imparted by Mr. Rao. All participants were cordially welcomed to the event, and the atmosphere was one of learning and engagement.
