 Department of Economics organised - “Learn & Earn – Self Employment Opportunities” Programme 

Saint Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar,Department of Economics , under IQAC intiative ,organised a special programme “Learn & Earn – Self Employment Opportunities” on 26th September 2025 at the College Mini Auditorium. The session was aimed at creating awareness among students about the importance of self-employment and skill-based opportunities for sustainable livelihood.

The programme commenced with a prayer by Soujanya, invoking blessings for the success of the event. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Pawan, followed by an introductory speech by Mr. Bharathraj S. Nejar, Head of the Department of Economics, who highlighted the relevance of self-employment in today’s economy.

The event was presided over by the  Principal, Dr. Robert Rodrigues J, who in his presidential address stressed the need for skill development, innovation, and entrepreneurial mindsets among youth to address the challenges of unemployment.

The resource person of the day, Dr. Bommaiah M, Director of RUDSET Brahmavar and Senior Manager,  delivered an insightful session on self-employment opportunities, government support schemes, and the importance of developing technical and business skills to achieve financial independence. 

Adding an interactive dimension to the programme, Mr. B. Santosh Shetty, Faculty at RUDSET, engaged the students in group games and activities, which enhanced participation and team spirit.

The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Mayuri, acknowledging the efforts of the organisers and participants. The programme was efficiently compered by Abhijna.

The event concluded on an inspiring note, leaving students motivated to explore self-employment as a path towards empowerment and growth

 Experiential Learning through Industrial Visit – Campco Chocolate Factory

The Department of Commerce and the Commerce Association, under the guidance of IQAC, organized an industrial visit to the Campco Chocolate Factory, Puttur for the B.Com students.

The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of a large-scale industry, to understand the stages of production, and to link theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

During the visit, students were given an insightful orientation on the history and operations of Campco, followed by a guided tour of the factory. They observed the various stages of chocolate production, including processing, packaging, and quality control. The resource persons also explained the importance of supply chain management, marketing strategies, and the role of innovation in sustaining growth in the competitive chocolate industry.

The visit was highly beneficial as it enhanced the students’ knowledge of industrial processes, teamwork, and corporate culture. It also motivated them to think about entrepreneurial opportunities and career prospects in the food processing sector.

The Department of Commerce expresses its gratitude to the management of Campco for their hospitality, and to the IQAC for their guidance and support in organizing this visit successfully.

ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ದಿನ: ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಯುವಜನರ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ

ದಿನಾಂಕ:-24/09/2025 ರ  ಸೈಂಟ್ ಮೇರಿಸ್ ಸಿರಿಯನ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ IQAC ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ದಿನದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಯುವಜನರ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಮಿನಿ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ.ರಾಬರ್ಟ್ ರೋಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಜೆ .ಇವರು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ  ದಯಾನಂದ ಡಿ ಕೀದಿಯೂರು , ನಿವೃತ್ತ ರಾಜಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಉಡುಪಿಕಾಲೇಜು,ಇವರು ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು.  ರಾಜ್ಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮಮತಾ ,ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ದೀಪಾ ಕೋಟ್ಯಾನ್ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ದಿಶು ಕುಂದರ್ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿ , ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ವಿಘ್ನೇಶ್ ಪೈ,ಧನ್ಯವಾದವನ್ನು ಚಿನ್ಮಯ  ಹಾಗು ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ತುಷಾರ್ ಇವರು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದರು.

The spirit of community service and cleanliness came alive on 25th September 2025, when the cadets of 3B Company, 21 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Udupi, organized a Swachhata Hi Seva – Shramadaan programme at the Brahmavar.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of around 120 individuals, including NCC cadets, ex-cadets, and civilians, who came together with a common mission – to promote cleanliness and spread awareness about the importance of hygiene in public spaces.

For nearly two hours, the volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive covering half a kilometre area. The initiative not only enhanced the surroundings but also set an example of responsible citizenship and youth leadership.

The programme reflected the true spirit of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, aligning with the nationwide movement inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India. The involvement of ex-cadets and local civilians highlighted how community engagement can make a lasting difference when people join hands for a noble cause.

This Shramadaan was more than just a cleanliness campaign – it was a reminder that every small act of service contributes towards a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable society.

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ: ದಿನಾಂಕ 23/ 9/ 2025 ರಂದು ಎಸ್.ಎಂ.ಎಸ್.ಕಾಲೇಜು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾವರ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದಿ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ ಡಾ. ಸುಕನ್ಯಾ ಮಾರ್ಟಿಸ್ ಇವರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಏಕತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪಡೆದಾಗ ಸಿಗುವ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಾವಕಾಶಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ರಾಬರ್ಟ್ ರೊಡ್ರಿಗಸ್ ಇವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಷಾ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ  ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕಿವಿಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿದರು. 

   ಹಿಂದಿ ವಿಭಾಗಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಡಾ. ಮಂಜುನಾಥ ಉಡುಪ ಕೆ ಇವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರೆ ಹಿಂದಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ಅವರು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರಾದ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಮಾರಿ ಆಯಿಷಾ ನಿಸಾ ಇವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರೆ ಕುಮಾರಿ ರೆಹನಾ ಬಾನು ವಂದಿಸಿದರು.

 ಹಿಂದಿ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಕಾಲೇಜು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಬಂಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ಕುಮಾರಿ ಆಯಿಷಾ ನಿಸಾ, ಕುಮಾರಿ ಶೃುತಿ ಪೂಜಾರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಮಾರಿ ಮೆಹನಾಸ್ ಇವರು ಪ್ರಥಮ, ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ತೃತೀಯ ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದರು.
